Here is the most viral news about what happened when Digital Assistants Break Your privacy, and the more worst they share your privacy with others.
They listen because they’re on the Internet.
In Washington state, A Portland woman, in Oregon, told KIRO7 TV station, that her Amazon Echo device had recorded her private conversation with her husband and shared it with her husbands Employees who lived in seattle.
After complain from women to Amazon they checked their systems and here is their statement:
“Echo woke up due to a word in background conversation sounding like ‘Alexa,'” – Amazon statement
Amazon says that they use a confused word which sounds like “Alexa”, So after hearing that alexa woke up and during their “private conversation” they used some other confusing word, in which response Alexa send that private recorded Conversation to one of her husbands Employee.
They Complainer had several Echoes in their home, they are using them to control the lights, heat and their security system. But, two weeks ago, her husband received a call from one of his Seattle based employee, who tell him that he received an audio of his conversation with his wife.
Danielle said to KIRO 7 that: “At first, my husband was like, “No, you didn’t,”.
“And he’s like, ‘You sat there talking about hardwood floors.’ And we said, ‘Oh gosh, you really did!'”
Now she disconnect all her Alexa devices and and report for an Investigation.
“I’m never plugging that device in again,” she told KIRO7. “I can’t trust it.”
The researchers claims that they were able to hide commands in recordings of spoken text or in Music, which is unnoticed by humans but are recognized by Digital assistants such as Google’s Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri.
This is not the first time when Digital Assistants intruded in users privacy. So far bugs fixed but the credibility is still a question!
