Usually, hackers exploit hardware and software vulnerabilities to hack ATMs and force them to spit out cash, but now anyone can simply buy a malware to steal millions in cash from ATMs.
Kaspersky Lab Researchers discovered a forum post which was advertising the ATM malware, dubbed Cutlet Maker. They are not only selling Malware but that forum post also had a brief description about the using manual fo this malware toolkit, Which is designed to hack ATMs with the help of Vendor API.
This malware do not need ATM user’s interaction and their Data.
That’s why this malware will not affect bank customers directly. This is designed to directly trick the Banks ATM’s to cash out without any autorization.
In that Forum post, they also mention the infamous piece of ATm malware Dubbed Tyupkin, which was firstly analysed in 2014 by kespersky lab and was also used by Internation Cyber Crime gang, Who conduct jackpot attach by infecting ATMS across the europe and beyond, and they make millions of $ .
