UI stands for user interface. UI designer is a person who is responsible for look and feel of website or app. He primarily works on graphic designing apps like adobe photoshop, Adobe fireworks or coreldraw etc. He is responsible for the website’s background, fonts sizes, font colors, font family, buttons style and sizes etc. He design the website’s aesthetic with programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and graphic designing apps etc.
In common, a UI designer is also called a web designer because mostly it’s hard for peoples to get the idea of UI designer, because UI is a professional term.

UX stands for User Experience. He is responsible for the overall user experience. UX designer is responsible for a better user interactive website. He do lot of user testing, research and monitoring etc. He gain user’s viewpoint that how user use the system or app.

He is responsible for the better mutual understanding of users with the website or app. He pay his attention, that how scrollbar should scroll, how buttons should react, how search should work etc.

Lets take an example of a website page.

UI designer is responsible for the Background color, fonts color their sizes, font family and logo etc.

UX designer is responsible for that where should be the search button locate, how header buttons react on interaction, how post’s comments should listed either in ascending, descending orders, how comments reply should look.

UX is a vast term and UI is a part of UX. UI designer is a person who implement design with the guidance of UX designer, or mostly UX is also UI designer. A good UI designer should have these expertise:

  • He can demonstrate UI design skills
  • Should have solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and sitemaps.
  • He should have a good grip on Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wireframing tools.
  • Expert in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
